Tattooing Your Own Style: The Great Challenge for Every Tattoo artist
The most complicated thing to achieve as a tattoo artist is to tattoo what you like, what you feel comfortable with, and what you do best, so that your work makes you happy, these are the keys.
There can be many small or medium challenges in your career as a tattoo artist; facing payments etc, but if you don’t t tattoo what you like you are dedicating all your effort to feel like a human skin printer and sure that there are characters and personalities suitable as a printer, but someone who wants to devote himself to tattooing I don’t think that is the case, so if you don’t want to be a human printer apply the story!
If you propose it as a goal, something that I consider totally advisable, it is much easier if you start from the beginning, if you know where you are going to take that path better, right?
Start tattooing your style
It’s not that you don’t make any tattoo that gets out of your style but the main idea I recommend is not to show the tattoos you do in other styles that differ from yours.
How do i it
to get off to a good start, some tips that work very well for students of 4 ideas tattoo school.
The first thing when you start your adventure with the tattoo after having enough knowledge (needless to say) not to spread anything to anyone or yourself.
The main idea is to design a sufficient number of tattoos that you will tattoo for free in order to make a personal portfolio, not for life but to start with a single technique which will mean more control over certain strokes, textures or whatever you choose and when you carry 20 tattoos of the same style you will see that change.
Other advantages of tattooing what you like.
If you have researched a little tattoo material you will see that the investment is greater and greater the more techniques you want to cover, unnecessary expense for example colors that you only use once, in each type of needle necessary for each style: magnum curved, bugpin, calibres, medium taper. It’s the multiplication of life! which is a waste in material that will surely expire before using it.
A random case
Let’s assume you’re good at lines and choose that your first year in the adventure you want to do old engraving style tattoos. You buy a line machine, 3 types of large size line needles, black ink and you have everything. There is no better way to stick to your style than to have no material to do something else, just as not to inflate to cookies is not to buy cookies.
You already have the necessary material. Now the designs.
you can create a pinterest board with tattoos you like to inspire you and see what you could do and how you get them. tattoos on artificial skin, fruits, vegetables, bristle tits or ear.
If you see that you can, prepare ten designs with your references. create a printed moodboard with drawings, tattoos, photos, textures everything that can inspire you and keep you focused on that style.
Expose your designs in some social network or that sees them to whom may be interested. there are applications that do the work for you, in a matter of target audience segmentation, if it is not your turn to look for you!
When you have your designs ready tattoo them on the support you prefer before moving on to humans. if possible shortly before doing it to someone to have it fresh to see the difficult areas and do something about it.
If it looks good you upload it to your social network, think that making a good photo of your work is almost 50% and to make a good photo you have to make 10 photos minimum to distance the best.
If it is at the level of your professional demands you upload it to the net, if not you DO NOT upload it, really if you are not convinced. It is much better that you seem to have little tattoos than to have the certainty that you have bad tattoos.
draw, tattoo, study the lines of the body, the depth of penetration needed for each body area and each skin type and technique, and so on.
